A company can choose the right AI model and still struggle to use it. New tools arrive, internal permissions need updating, and someone has to connect the service to the systems the business already runs.
A new Claude offering on Google Cloud addresses part of that problem. Announced on October 22, it lets businesses use the Claude Platform through a service operated by Anthropic, while keeping Google Cloud authentication and billing.
Claude was already available on Google Cloud. This launch adds another way to run it.
The Anthropic-managed option gives customers access to new Claude Platform features when they launch on Anthropic’s own platform. Google names Managed Agents, currently in beta, reusable skills and code execution among the capabilities available.
In everyday terms, these tools help developers build systems that can follow a workflow, use software and carry out several steps. A model that writes a useful answer is one component. The surrounding tools determine how that answer becomes completed work.
There are now two routes. With the new option, Anthropic operates the service and processes the data. With the existing Google-managed option, Google Cloud fills that role.
Google says both routes provide new models from launch. Access to platform features is the difference: the Google-managed service adds them after integration. It also provides its own regional controls and native cloud integrations.
Anthropic says the new service currently offers US and Global endpoints. Teams should check their requirements before assuming the two options are interchangeable.
Consider a support team testing an agent that drafts answers from an internal handbook. Before expanding the pilot, the team needs to know which records the agent may read, how a person reviews its answers and what happens when it cannot resolve a request.
Earlier access to an agent tool may help the team build that workflow. It does not settle those operating questions. A useful pilot should measure correct resolutions, review time and cost per completed case. Counting generated answers alone can hide extra work for employees.
Start with a specific workflow and list the features it needs. Then check who will process its data, where the service is available and which existing controls still apply.
For customers with negotiated discounts, Anthropic also advises contacting their account team before starting: discounts cannot be applied retroactively.
Our view: this announcement makes access to Claude’s platform more convenient for some Google Cloud customers. The business case still depends on whether a particular workflow becomes more reliable, faster or less expensive after human review is included.
